Less than 200 to go!

So as you may have been able to tell from the last post these have been trying times. I was sick for a few days so that is never fun. Also the weather was getting us down & we felt like we weren't making any progress. But now spirits are back up, I am feeling better,  the sun is out and we have even got some easy hitches into town. A wonderful couple leaving Rangeley picked us up & even went out of there way to deliver us to the trail. His name was Big Foot Jim and is section hiking the trail. So it goes to show you that you never know what the day will bring.

We hiked over some beautiful Bald's yesterday & had great views of some lakes below. The only trouble was it was so bloody windy.

View of the valley below.

Markers on the rock to navigate to the trail.

Paddy Cakes on the bald.

180 degree view.

Me trying not to blow away.

We had a great stealth camp site right by a river that was perfect for the night. I thought the wind was going to take out the tent a few times but we made it through the night great. All except the hump under Paddy Cakes sleeping pad that kept him from sleeping to good.

Paddy Cakes taking down our food that we had to hang to keep the bears from getting it. We saw a big bear track the day before so we figured we should be extra careful.

Today we woke up to a gorgeous day. Big puffy clouds & great views.

The whole week is suppose to be great weather like this.

We stopped & had lunch at a river. I even had time for a quick sun bathing nap.

A lot of the fall colors are starting to come in. It has been really beautiful. I think we are going to be done with the trail before they hit full fall colors.

A grouse just off the trail.

We pushed 18 miles for the day & made it into town for dinner & a good nights sleep without lumpy ground under us. Tomorrow we hit 2000 miles!!!!! Holy crap have we walked all this way??!!! Less than two weeks left, and we will be climbing Katahdin Mountain to our final destination.
