2000 Milers

We officially crossed the 2000 mile marker today & man does it feel good. We have made it to the home stretch.

The Bigelow mountain range is one of the last ranges we had to conquer. This range was just voted by Backpacker magazine as the best view in Maine.

So before we got to the top of the mountain we were told you could see Katahdin mountain. This would have been our first view of our final destination, but unfortunately looming rain clouds blocked our view.

Where Katahdin should be.

What's nice about conquering mountain is sometime you get to look back & say "I just hiked that!"

Paddy Cakes feeling good about our days hike.

By the end of the day we had found a wonderful spot to tent for the night, right on Flagstaff Lake.

Beautiful view all around.

Here is our room with a view.

The next morning the fog rolled in & looked so spooky on the water.

We had a pretty easy day terrain wise but had to make it 19 miles into town. And come to find out we had to take a ferry across a river & the last one was at 4pm. So, we had to book it.

Our first lake of the day.

Second lake of the day.

Third lake of the day.

When we got to the river the ferry was a guy named Hillbilly Hank in his canoe.

There was even a white blaze on the canoe.

Our next town is Monson & then we head into the 100 mile wilderness. It is a stretch of trail that is 100 miles & has no roads or resupply places. So we have to carry extra supplies to make it through the whole trail. Basically after that we summit Kathadin and we are done. After being on this adventure for so long it is a bit hard to think of it coming to an end.
